1.
The city felt just like a cave So I left the basement Walked into the darkness And the cloud cover overhead It formed a low ceiling A grey-colored ether That they mixed into a sedative To keep cops from danger By calming your questions So give it up And go your way If you have a roof Then get out of the rain We thought we could heal our land With medicinal treatments And political platforms But we never softened the gauze It bled through the bandage Ah, it proved a placebo Now we have to tear it off And put the body in shock 'Cause it's just gonna fester the wound Ah man, there's nothing left that we can do So give it up And go your way Give it up
2.
The winter's been so cold here We've been living without heat Even though I've got a working furnace I'm going for a walk dear To try and figure out Why you'd build a house Then turn around and burn it So come dig me out Somebody shouted "Avalanche" I'm climbing up for air And praying for a helping hand to catch You said you needed answers All the counselors you paid Told you to mimic old mistakes I can't believe you listened Well baby, don't forget Even though I'm gone You're the one who left So come dig me out Somebody shouted "Avalanche" I'm climbing up for air And praying for a helping hand to catch But the surface sometimes seems too far to scratch Starting over isn't starting again Babe, it ain't a sin to begin again Can you hear me pleading Can we start the healing? 'Cause babe, it ain't a sin to begin again

Creatures 05:04
When my enemies have gathered And all my help has scattered Still I will love you 'Cause you're all that matters Maker of atoms No one can break you When you say the word, then None can resist you The words I sing can Sound repeating But there are these creatures And they keep singing "Holy, holy, holy Is The Lord God Almighty" And they never tire They never tire "Holy, holy, holy Is The Lord God Almighty You were, you are, and You ever will be" One has eyes and wings And the body of a man Like him I will praise you With everything I am All the riches in the world All the glory man could gain... Well it just makes me sick To think how I could be so vain To everything that breathes In heaven and at home Hear the words pour From angelic hosts Become a choir And sing before the throne
4.
The stories of your past all have a theme Of pain, abandonment, use, and greed But they're stories of a person I know I'll never meet 'Cause one day you walked into the land they call a waste And there, He came to you, in that lonely place The people on the rooftop won't shut up They shout about the claims of every crush Our enemies drive freight but they wind up with empty trucks Who knew? As you journey down the highway and approach the city gates I will go with you to that busy place And though they called you desolate, you're now a shining flame And we're a light, you and I together in this place You know what they all say about hindsight There's no waste in the wasteland tonight You once were abandoned, but now you are my delight
5.
With a whole heart I saw and heard and felt the weight Of all the lights on stage All the world's a stage That you created Withe timeless works of total genius Oh, and the greatness! We'll praise you from our faces So I thanked you In the presence of the city counsel And the chamber walls Rang with our applause And it's for joy that you enjoy our joy Just the sight of It stunned and rendered everyone Incapable of speaking Our breath was barely breathing Only fools With foolishness and ignorance Would skip the greatest thing History has seen Now I'm steady My heart is firm, I'm not afraid And my life is full of triumph Even in my dying It's for joy that you enjoy our joy
6.
Sometimes I'm ugly Like you thought that you were Before you carefully Pieced it all together Please be sober Sober like your father On the day he knew He truly loved your mother All over again This double Windsor Is heavy on my breathing But I've got children Who one day will need feeding And there's this woman Sleeping here beside me She sees me As if I were Jesus Laying my life down But my friend You're like the ocean Blown in confusion You have every gift But God knows you don't use them Chasing after girls Who mirror all your failures And you're trying to forget Your call to the future And every ship must Have some kind of rudder Every horse will Turn with rein and bridle So your words would Lose none of their power If you give your- -self some kind of harness Man, it's nothing but the truth
7.
In my neighborhood, there is a sign It says coming soon, but it's a lie Circumstances forced decline To the empty building on the corner There's no applications, resumes There's no parents filling children's plates There's no place for us to congregate Just an empty building on the corner Man, it's been so long Since I had a place Where I could meet a crowd And I wonder If we'll ever Know each other now But may my life be marked By joy on the corner And so, if we are never friends It's 'cause I'm singing from a locked entrance How I don't want my life to reflect The empty building on the corner I can't say I love you like myself When I insulate that life so well And I never knew my neighbors No, I never knew my neighbors May my life be marked by joy on he corner

about

Started recording this about three months after becoming a band. Then, for loads of reasons, we put the project on hold. We ended up finishing this after putting out The Japanese Disaster Edition, so the timetable sometimes messes with people.

To clarify: This is our second release, comprised of our first songs.

about

The Summer Country Nashville, Tennessee

"The Summer Country is an easy blend between alt-rock and punk – a four-man band based out of Nashville, TN. Isaiah Kallman (guitar/vocals), Nick Johnson (guitar), Brent Bishop (bass) and Josh Jackson (drums), form a diverse yet cohesive group. A live show is not to be missed – you might see a drum cymbal slice through a power cord. Just ask them about it." - Linda Wyman ... more
